Humane Education

Alberta Animal Services has been in operation since 1988 and is located in the City of Red Deer. We provide animal control for the City of Red Deer, Town of Innisfail, Town of Lacombe, as well as several other towns and municipalities within Central Alberta. Along with animal control, we also provide general bylaw enforcement for Bashaw and Clive.

Institute for Animal Associated Lifelong Learning is a non-profit organization dedicated to humane education. In this site you will find humane education theory as well as activity ideas for teachers and parents, children's pages and general information about animals and their care.

Kindness Club is a humane and environmental educational organization for children. This site has fun activities for kids and facts on pets and wildlife.

Kind News is a newspaper style site produced by NAHEE for youth.

Latham Foundation focuses on the abuse of animals and other forms of family violence.

Alberta SPCA is a province wide protection agency dedicated to the humane treatment of animals. This site has their position statements, history, information on the animal welfare movement and education programs.

American Humane Assocation offers resources for educating children, campaigns against violence and general information on animal welfare. Animal Alliance of Canada focuses on local, regional, national and international issues regarding the goodwill and respectful treatment of animals by humans.

Animal Welfare Institute (AWI) is a non-profit organization dedicated to reduce the pain and fear inflicted on animals by humans. Site has information on campaigns on animal testing, wildlife, farm animals and marine life.

Canadian Federation of Humane Societies (CFHS) is a national body comprised of animal welfare organizations and individuals whose purpose is to promote compassion and humane treatment for all animals.

Delta Society is an international resource for the human animal bond.

Fund for Animals is an animal advocacy organization that does campaigns and hosts animal care facilities working for the cause of animals throughout the world. The site provides resources for educators and students.

Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) has current information on national animal issues, pets, wildlife and farm animals.

Internation Fund for Animal Welfare is an international organization that works to improve the welfare of wild and domestic animals by reducing commercial exploitation of animals, protecting wildlife habitats and assisting animals in distress.

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) is an animal activist organization with many resources & ideas to reduce animal suffering.
