Do you want to party like an animal?
Then have your next Birthday Party at Red Deer & District SPCA! Not only do we promise you a fantastic time but best of all, the proceeds from the party go right back to help the animals! Now that’s a reason to party!
With three party packages to choose from, kids will enjoy fun games, crafts, and animal interactions in a privately reserved room. Party schedules book up very quickly, so please call or email well in advance of your child's birthday for availability.

Costs
All parties must be booked a minimum of 7 days in advance. Party time fill up quickly; book early to avoid disappointment!
A non-refundable deposit of 50% of the total cost is required at the time of booking your party. Full payment must be received a minimum of 1 week prior to the party.

Basic Birthday Bash!
An age-appropriate, animal themed craft or game begins as soon as guests arrive. Next our birthday party instructor will introduce your group to some animal special guests as part of our animal presentations or take you on a behind the scenes tour of our Humane Education and Animal Welfare Center. After the tour or animal presentations, it's time for cake and presents, then, the remaining time is set aside for animal presentations!
We provide:
• A qualified birthday instructor
• Age appropriate animal themed craft and/or games
• Animal special guests presentations or a behind the scenes tour
• A sink, counter space, and refrigerator
• A spatula, knife for cutting cake, and lighter
• All the set-up
You provide:
• Decorations
• Loot bags
• Paper goods
• The food (including the cake)
• Drinks
• Clean up
Party Times
Red Deer & District SPCA offers birthday parties on Saturdays and Sundays at the following times: 9:00AM-10:30AM, 11:00AM-12:30PM, 1:00PM-2:30PM, and 3:00PM-4:30PM.
Birthday Party Frequently Asked Questions
How does the party run?
The first hour is led by our instructor and includes an animal-themed game or craft as the guests arrive. The animal presentation will follow. For the last ½ hour, parents take over for snacks, cakes, and presents. If you choose a deluxe or ultimate party, the instructor will assist with activities during the last ½ hour.
May I request specific animals for the guests to meet?
If your child has an absolutely favourite animal, let us know and we'll do all that we can to make sure this animal is included in the party. However, animals are selected for the party based on their health, temperament, and how much they have been involved in other presentations. Since animals are unpredictable, we cannot promise any particular animal for your event.
What animals are we able to choose from?
Red Deer & District SPCA is home to dogs, cats, and a variety of small mammals. Depending on the animal, the children may be able to pet him/her. We are an animal welfare center that cares for pets that are sometimes become sick, stressed or uncomfortable around children. We strive to provide party participants with a safe and fun experience while protecting our animals from any undue stress. Therefore the type of animals available may vary depending on who our shelter residents are.
Will we see the kennels and pet the dogs and cats?
If you specifically request it, we can substitute a behind the scenes tour of the RDDSPCA for one of the animal presentations. The party guest will have the opportunity to interact with some of our adoptable cats and possibly, depending on the behaviour, our adoptable dogs.
What kind of decorations do I need to bring?
Some people put tablecloths on the tables, decorate with banners and balloons. If you book a deluxe or ultimate party, we provide tablecloths, birthday banners, and balloons. Please note: there will be very limited time to hang decorations, etc. as there may be parties preceding and following you booking. Decorations must be hung using painter's tape so as to not damage our walls.
Is the party appropriate for older children?
We're flexible, and we're able to gear the program to most age levels. RDDSPCA parties have been designed with children ages 4-12 in mind but other age groups can be accommodated by request.
Do I need to clean up after my party?
If you have booked a basic party you are responsible to clean up following the party or pay an additional $25.00 cleaning fee. If you chose a deluxe or supreme party we will take care of the clean up too!
